Healthier S’mores Frappe Inspired by Starbucks (Dairy-Free)

Healthier S’mores Frappe Inspired by Starbucks (Dairy-Free)

I have a confession to make. I USED to have an unhealthy obsession with the Starbucks s’mores frappuccino (I emphasize USED to only to avoid confronting the reality that I do in fact still possess this obsession). I will admit, I am not the largest Starbucks advocate and rarely find myself craving a specific Starbucks creation, but the exception to this phenomenon is the s’mores frappe. Maybe it is because of the anticipation of having to wait for the summer to indulge in this delicious drink. Maybe it is because of the comfort the drink provided my sour mouth after having seven teeth pulled as a child. Or maybe it is because of the prolonged two consecutive summers that Starbucks constricted it from their menu. Either way, all I know for certain is that I am OBSESSED. Unfortunately, my current lifestyle advancement involves the absence of dairy and excess sugar which limited my indulgences in this treat. Never before did I think the words “healthy” and “s’mores” and “frappe” could coexist in the same proclamation, but never the less, this is 2020 (the year of oddities)!

  • for the chocolate syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

  • for the marshmallow cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar-free marshmallow syrup

  • 1/2 cup dairy-free whipped cream

  • for the frappe
  • 2 cups ice

  • 1 cup dairy-free milk

  • 1 large graham cracker square or more to taste (homemade)

  • 1 teaspoon sugar-free marshmallow syrup or maple syrup

  • 1 espresso shot (optional)

Directions

  • Prepare the chocolate syrup by vigorously whisking the maple syrup and cocoa powder together. Set aside.
  • Prepare the marshmallow cream by stirring the whipped cream and marshmallow syrup together.
  • Add the chocolate syrup and ¼ cup marshmallow cream mixture into the bottom of a jar.
  • Create the frappe by adding all the ingredients to a blender and blending until smooth.
  • Pour the frappe into the jar and top with the remaining whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles.

Notes

  • An alternative to the marshmallow cream is ½ cup of homemade coconut whipped cream. You can also use a homemade marshmallow fluff made of aquafaba. There are many recipes online.
